  • Membership qualifications is to be an registered Democrat, resident of the voting district/ward, and the desire to achieve the promotion of Democratic candidates and ideals.

  • A precinct is the smallest political unit in the country. Each precinct reports to one polling station. Small, but mighty! An active committee member can be the difference in a handful of votes that decides an election.

  • Whether elected or appointed, all committee members serve the same purpose: to get Democrats elected at the local, state, and national levels. PCs have certain rights as governed by county, state, and national bylaws:

    • voting privileges for candidate nominations as a result of a death or resignation of an elected official.

    • voting privileges in any recommendation or endorsement process that takes place on the county level.

    • voting privileges in county-level party business such as electing leadership, passing resolutions, and bylaws changes.

    • Attend county party meetings, events, and activities.

    • volunteer with the local party for things like staffing tables and registering voters at events.

    • be a visibly proud Democrat.

    • Obtain the list of registered voters for your district/ward and familiarize yourself with your neighbors.

    • Talk with your non-affiliated neighbors about why they should register as Democrats.

    • Promote the Democratic Party and candidates on social media.

    • Help identify people to fill vacant committee spots.
